What is Mesh Fabric? Classification and Characteristics of Mesh Fabric
Mesh fabric, characterized by its mesh openings, encompasses both organic woven mesh and knitted mesh (currently non-woven). Woven mesh comes in white or yarn-dyed variations, offering excellent air permeability. Post-bleaching and dyeing, the fabric remains exceptionally cool. Apart from summer apparel, it finds utility in curtains, mosquito nets, and other applications. The uniform mesh size makes it suitable for printing, filtering, and more.
Woven mesh employs three primary weaving methods. The first method involves using two sets of warp yarns (ground warp and twisted warp) that interlace with weft yarns, forming a stable structure known as leno weave. Twisted warp may utilize a special twisted heddle, creating stable mesh-shaped holes known as lenos. Alternatively, jacquard weave or variations in the reeding method produce fabric with smaller, less stable holes, often referred to as false leno. Plain weave and square weave utilize reed tooth density and weft density to form meshes.
Knitted mesh is divided into two types: weft knitted mesh and warp knitted mesh. Warp knitted mesh, typically woven using West German high-speed warp knitting machines, commonly employs materials such as nylon, polyester, and spandex.
Classification and Characteristics of Mesh Fabrics
Main Material Mesh: Utilized in exposed areas of garments, offering lightweight, good air permeability, and bending resistance, as seen in sandwich mesh.
Collar Accessories: Examples include velvet and BK cloth.
Lining Accessories: Such as Lixin cloth, known for wear resistance and excellent ventilation.
In pursuit of lightweight and breathable footwear, tennis and running shoes often incorporate extensive mesh components. Mesh, particularly in the tongue part of basketball shoes, serves as a specialized upper material, prioritizing lightness and breathability, as commonly found in running shoes. Essentially, it entails a cloth shoe upper reinforced for athletic use, typically crafted from special fibers and featuring scientific high-strength network designs. Woven material uppers molded in 3D offer optimal breathability and elasticity, ensuring a comfortable fit.
