[Maintenance of Astronomical Telescopes]How to maintain the astronomical telescope
? Telescope Maintenance
Telescope purchase is important, but maintenance is just as important as maintenance. Astronomical telescopes are precision instruments. The quality of maintenance directly affects the use and life of the telescope. Therefore, it must be used and kept by special personnel. Non-professionals should not easily disassemble and repair.
1. Maintenance of the optical system
(1) Ensure that the telescope is placed in a ventilated, dry and clean place; all eyepieces, prisms, secondary Imaging mirrors and other small optical accessories should be placed in a drying box or drying cylinder with desiccant when not in use, and at the same time, always pay attention to replacing with new desiccant. Do not use the telescope in rainy and snowy days, windy sand, and high humidity (over 85 percent), and do not open the objective lens cover. Especially for reflecting telescopes without sealed windows, gray sand is the biggest enemy. In the mildew and rain season in the south, the two ends of the lens barrel can be fastened with airtight plastic bags, and the bagged desiccant should be placed inside (do not touch the lens), and new desiccant should be replaced frequently to keep the objective lens dry.
(2) If there is dust and other dirt on the optical mirror surface, use a blower to gently blow it off, do not blow it with your mouth, so as not to splash saliva on the mirror surface; do not use cloth or bristles Brush and wipe to avoid damage to the coating layer and mirror surface; do not touch the optical mirror surface with your hands, the fingerprints left will often corrode the mirror surface and cause permanent traces. If fingerprints are accidentally left, they must be wiped off as soon as possible, and a mixture of 50 percent of absolute ethanol and ethyl ether should be dropped on a clean degreased gauze, and gently turn clockwise or counterclockwise from the center of the mirror to the edge of the mirror. Wipe (only lightly in one direction, not back and forth), and keep changing the absorbent cotton balls until they are clean. The mirror surface of the telescope should be cleaned from time to time in addition to the usual protection. Do not use organic solvents on the lens to avoid damage to the anti-reflection film; try not to wipe the aluminized mirror surface to prevent the aluminum film from being damaged or falling off.
(3) Try not to observe the portable telescope near the forest, water and seaside with heavy fog. If you have to observe, you should wipe it as soon as possible after the observation.
(4) The mirror surface of the reflecting telescope should be coated regularly (usually 1 to 3 years) to ensure that the mirror surface has a good reflectivity.
Maintenance and maintenance of large and high-end telescopes should be carried out by professionals from astronomical units.
2. Maintenance of the rotary clock
(1) The mechanical and tracking system of the telescope is a high-precision transmission system, but due to its relatively high speed Slow, generally do not need frequent maintenance, just follow the requirements of the manual, do not overload and regularly add the same type of lubricating oil (grease); if the type of lubricating oil (grease) is different, please use the original lubricating oil (grease). After cleaning the kerosene, etc., add new lubricating oil (grease). Be careful not to mix different types of lubricating oil (grease). It will be very beneficial for qualified units or individuals to ask professionals to re-clean, refuel and adjust after a few years of use.
(2) The control system of the telescope should be checked from time to time. When using it, it should be operated in strict accordance with the requirements of the manual. Usually, water droplets, water vapor, and foreign objects should be prevented from entering the circuit part. The battery should be taken out and stored for a long time. .
3. Maintenance of the electronic control system
The electronic control system of the telescope varies greatly due to different models and functions, but the attention points of use and maintenance are basically The same:
(1) Check whether the input AC voltage is the same as the rated voltage of the telescope. When using the DC power supply, also pay attention to whether the rated voltage of the battery pack or accumulator is consistent with the electronic control requirements of the telescope.
(2) In the high-power drive circuit, please note that the heat sinks of the high-power tube do not touch and short-circuit, so as not to burn the tube.
(3) All power or electric control wires should not be pulled hard or crossed at will to avoid disconnection.
