RC photo paper, also known as gap photo paper or microporous photo paper, is the abbreviation for “Resin Coated.” This refers to a type of paper that is coated with resin on both sides, making it double-sided plastic-coated. RC photo paper consists of multiple layers, with both sides covered by plastic-coated backing. The gloss on this type of paper is the natural gloss of the resin, and its microporous structure allows for fast drying after ink absorption.
Like traditional photographic paper, the base paper of RC photo paper is coated on both sides with a waterproof PE coating, known as RESIN COATING. The coating itself is made from nano-scale silica material (with particle diameters smaller than 150 nanometers), which forms ultra-fine composite particles. When ink is applied, it is quickly absorbed by the honeycomb-like micropores, which is where the term “gap photo paper” originates.
