Placement of main speakers
①The ratio of 3 to 17 means dividing the length of the room into thirds, placing the speakers at one-third of the length, and placing the speakers at one-third of the length. The spacing between speakers is 0.7 times the length of two-thirds of the room, suitable for larger, evenly proportioned spaces, resulting in balanced sound and a wide and deep soundstage.
②Three-three-one ratio, divide the length of the room into three equal parts and the width into three equal parts, and place the speakers at the intersection of the first equal parts of length and width. The first one is similar, the difference is that the interval between the two main speakers is narrow, you can choose according to the length and width of your living room.
③The screw hole pendulum method can be used for special living room spaces. The main speaker should be placed between one-third and one-half the length of the room, and then the two speakers should be placed against the wall as much as possible, and the inward projection angle of the two speakers should be greater than 45°. The listening position should be between 0.5 and 1 meter after the intersection of the projected cross lines.
④ The equilateral triangle method can be used if the living room space is relatively small, or if the theater is set up in the audio-visual room. The main speaker should be at least 1 meter away from the rear wall, and it should be at least 0.5 meters away from the side wall. The two main speakers and the listening position form an equilateral triangle. The inward projection angle of the speakers is greater than 45°, and the formed equilateral triangle can be Large or small, it can be adjusted according to the difference in space size.
Surround speaker placement
The 5.1-channel theater has two surround speakers, and the 7.1-channel theater has four surround speakers. There are two ways of wiring:
①Wall-mounted, hang the surround box on both sides of the sofa wall. At this time, it should be noted that the height of the main speaker should be the same as the height of the sitting human ear. Install it on the wall. Surround speakers are about 60 to 90 cm higher than the human ear. Many people hang the speakers, especially the surround rear speakers, on the corners of the wall when decorating. This installation method is inappropriate.
②The floor stand is placed directly on both sides of the sofa, so the opening of the wiring should be determined according to the situation. In short, try to avoid the appearance of open lines. In order to obtain the best effect, the surround speakers should preferably form a rectangle with the main speaker. Of course, the specific situation should be treated according to the specific situation, and a slightly trapezoidal shape can also be used.
Projection equipment placement
The size of the projection should be at least 100 inches. According to the ratio of 16:9, the size of the screen is about 2.21m*1.25m. The height of the screen needs to be consistent with the height of the viewer’s position, and the height of the lower edge of the screen is controlled at about 0.6-0.7m. In addition, the distance between the projector and the screen should be about 3.50m, and the height of the projector also needs to match the height of the screen. It is determined according to the height that the projector product bears.
Subwoofer placement
The method to find the best position for the subwoofer speaker is also relatively simple, first place a subwoofer effect Play a better CD or a fever audition disc, put it in the best position in the audio-visual space, and listen to it everywhere in the entire audio-visual space. It means that the low frequency has no resonance at this point, which is the sweet spot of our subwoofer.
2.1 home theater equipment placement
(1) placement
2.1 speaker placement involves subwoofer and Satellite box, generally speaking, because of its weak directivity, the placement of the subwoofer is relatively random. It is recommended to place it under the table or in the corner of the wall. The reflection on the ground or wall can significantly enhance the bass effect; the satellite box is placed according to the left and right sound. The channels are placed on both sides, and the light cavalry speakers will be marked with L (left) and R (right); the two satellite boxes are generally flush with the ear or slightly lower, aiming at the human ear, forming an equilateral triangle is best. The rear panel of the speaker should be kept about 10 cm away from the wall, and the rear-inverted type with the phase port at the back can appropriately increase the distance.
(2) Placement angle
The left and right speakers should be centered on the viewer, within an angle of 45 to 60 degrees. Generally speaking, the left and right speakers should preferably be at an angle of about 45° with the human ear. If the speaker is too close to the listener, the sound field positioning is not accurate enough, and there is a phase difference between the high and low frequency units, and the sound cannot be synchronized. Too far away, and the sound field becomes narrower, losing the sense of space and presence.
For practical purposes. If it is mainly used for watching movies, it is recommended that the angle be around 45°, which is the angle used when monitoring the soundtrack of the movie. If you mainly listen to music, you can increase the distance between the left and right speakers to about 60° to obtain a larger listening angle.
(3) Placement height
If the height of the speaker is not ideal, it will greatly affect the listening experience. For 2.0 bookshelf speakers, especially some mid-to-high-end bookshelf speakers, it is strongly recommended that you use speaker brackets, which can not only obtain excellent sound quality, but also adjust the height very conveniently.
5.1 Home theater equipment placement
(1) Subwoofer placement
When assembling a home theater, you must Pay attention to the placement of the speakers. There is no requirement for the placement of the bass speakers in my house, so they are placed next to the TV cabinet.
(2) The placement of the left and right main speakers
When placing the left and right main speakers, pay attention to the distance between the left and right main speakers to the listener. Equal to 45 °, this effect is better.
(3) Placement of the center speaker
The center speaker is placed on the TV cabinet in my house. This can be determined by your personal situation, or it can be placed on the TV .
(4) Placement of surround speakers
It is advisable to place the surround speakers on the side. There is a distance from the ground, and when people are sitting on the sofa, they are just close to their ears.
7.1 home theater equipment placement
(1) main speaker placement
left and right front main speakers placement At the height of the human ear, there is a 45-degree angle with the emperor’s position, which can transmit a wide sound stage and precise positioning of individual sounds.
(2) Center speaker arrangement
The center speaker is arranged at any position above or below the monitor. Based on this arrangement, the speakers are either high or low facing the listener. If you have an acoustically transparent screen, center the speaker horizontally and vertically behind the screen.
(3) Side Surround Speaker Arrangement
The left and right surround speakers reproduce the surround sound field and intense special effects as you would experience in a movie theater. These speakers are placed at an angle of 90 to 110 degrees to the listener and 2 feet or more above.
(4) Surround back speaker arrangement
The left and right surround back speakers are direct firing, placed together on the rear wall to gain the benefits of THX’s patented Advanced Speaker Array ASA technology. Using this speaker setup, the THX ASA digitally reconfigures the surround channels to recreate the proper soundstage for movies, music and games.
(5) Subwoofer placement
There are slight variations on the placement of subwoofers, depending on how many subwoofers your system has. If you have four, place them in a cross in the middle of each wall. If you have two, place them between opposing walls. If you have one, place it in the middle of the front wall.
