How to care for outdoor shoes

Storage:

After each wear, remove the insoles, loosen the laces, and let the shoes dry naturally. If the shoes are very wet, stuff the shoes with newspaper or shoe braces, and change the newspaper that is already wet from time to time. Also avoid leaving your shoes in high temperature environments (including in cars). Do not store dry shoes in damp spaces (leather is a natural product and is prone to mold).

Cleaning:

Dirt particles can enter the leather fibers, causing them to fray and break.

a. For dirty shoes – clean with a brush first, and for non-leather shoes (such as nylon), just use a sponge with warm water to clean. If it is oily or very dirty, it is best to use a leather cleaner and a nylon brush to clean the surface. As for the inner lining of the shoe, wipe it with a damp cloth, because the salt from sweat will quickly pass through the inner lining. It enters the pores of the leather and destroys the leather structure, causing it to dry out and crack.

b. After cleaning the nubuck shoes, brush off the floating soil and treat with water repellent. Do not use shoe wax or shoe polish, which can impair the breathability of the shoe.

c. Wash non-leather shoes with cold water and dry naturally. Treat with water repellent after drying. Do not use shoe wax or shoe polish, which can impair the breathability of the shoe.

d. Dyeing lining, if exposed to water, damp and friction, sometimes the color will fade, which is normal.

Drying:

a. All shoes must be dried at room temperature. Because the leather is easily damaged, deformed, bent, dried and burst, do not place the shoes near a heat source or expose them to the sun.

b. Thick mud let the wind dry and clean up. Do not use fire to dry, excessive heat, the leather will dry, wrinkle, and the adhesive properties will be destroyed, which will melt the sole of the boot.

c. Do not use a stove or hair dryer to dry! If you use a stove or a hair dryer to dry, it will not only be seriously deformed, causing cracking or cracking, but also seriously affect the service life.

Maintenance:

Outdoor shoes that are properly maintained can last for years with regular use of footwear care products to maintain leather and restore surface water resistance . If waterproof shoes are not maintained and treated to resist water, the waterproof breathability of waterproof fabrics will not be damaged, but it will affect the breathability, durability and comfort of shoes. Use the water repellent recommended by the brand company.

a. You can use leather protective spray wax or brand-specific spray wax to evenly spray 2-3 times on the shoes, which is beneficial to prolong the service life.

b. Water repellent treatment: Treat non-leather shoes with water repellent after drying. Water will penetrate from the seam line, and the waterproof agent can improve the waterproof degree of the upper and the stitching. The newly purchased outdoor shoes must be reapplied with the waterproof agent for a period of time.

c. Rubbing oil on the tongue will prevent the leather from rattling, and rubbing oil on the metal parts will prevent them from oxidizing and rusting.
