What is EVD?
The EVD system, an upgraded product of DVD, stands for Enhanced Versatile Disk. It is an enhanced high-density digital laser disc system. EVD technology, derived from published patents, focuses on audio/video filtering, encoding/decoding optimization methods to improve audio-visual quality and increase data compression ratios. It inherits the “Dynamic Superposition of Subtitles on Digital Video” method from SVCD, capable of displaying subtitles in 256 colors.
EVD comprises five software components: DVD-EVD conversion software, AC3-EAC conversion software, OGT production system, EVD digital video disc production system, and VCD/DVD/EVD player. EVD is a digital optical disc system with independent intellectual property rights in China and serves as the national standard for digital optical discs. Technical specifications have been submitted to international standards bodies, aiming for global adoption.
Main technical features include:
- Video: Supports 8 different video qualities from VCD to high-definition, fully supporting high-definition digital TV.
- Audio: Uses EAC audio compression technology with mono, dual, and 5.1 channels, offering better quality than current DVD players.
- Subtitles: Supports 256-color floating subtitles with transparent colors, superior to DVD subtitles.
EVD has 22 patents and has been third-party tested. It fills gaps in domestic high-definition systems, surpassing Super VCD and DVD systems in technical advantages.
What formats does EVD support?
EVD supports the following audio formats: MP3, WMA, AAC, APE, FLAC, and others.
For video playback, EVD supports a wide range of formats including RM, RMVB, MP4, AVI, DIVX, MPEG4, VOB, TS, and others, compatible with DVD, EVD, SVCD, VCD, DVCD, MPEG4, MP5, and other discs. It can play 1080P HD movies and 720P SD movies.
When using a USB connected to the interface, EVD can play RM, RMVB, MP4, AVI, DIVX, MPEG4, RMV, VOB, TS, and other popular video formats.
Ordinary EVD/DVD players typically support AVI, DIVX, MPEG4, VOB, and other video formats, and MP3 and WMA audio formats.
EVD is compatible with all DVD formats and supports 1080P/720P high-definition formats, various U disk formats, CD, HDCD, MP3, WMA for downloading and copying, MPEG4 network video decoding, and is comprehensively compatible with FVD/EVD/MPEG4/DVD/DVD-R/RW/SVCD/DVCD/VCD/CD/CD-R/MP3 format discs.
