How Food Blenders Work and Maintenance Tips

Food blenders can be found in almost every kitchen. They mix ingredients to make cookies, cakes, muffins, breads, desserts, and other foods. Because of their versatility, they have become a favorite gift item for people setting up a new home.

Working principle of food blender

Food blender electric small appliance. That is, instead of heating things, they move things. In this case, they move or mix food ingredients. Obviously, the motor is the main component of a food blender. Hence the gears. The nemesis of a gear motor’s rotational conversion is against rotation. The speed controller changes the current passed to the motor so that the speed of the agitator is to be controlled.

To test and replace the switch:

Step 1: Carefully remove the switch exposed on the back to switch to surrounding housing.

Step 2: Check the terminals on the switch to make sure the wires from the appliance are connected to the switch.

Step 3: Mark the location of the terminal wire and disconnect.

Step 4: Use a continuity tester or multimeter to determine if the switch is faulty. If so, replace and reconnect the terminal wires.

Maintenance Speed Control: The speed of the food mixer is controlled by changing the current motor. Smaller hand mixers use high-speed switches that include an electrical contact that increases the amount of current per motor. Larger units use variable resistors to control current flow. Continuity testers or multitesters are used to check both types of speed control operation. In some cases, contacts can be cleaned to improve functionality. However, in many cases, problems caused by speed control can only be solved by replacing the controller.

Maintenance Gear: Food mixers work so well because they spin the nemesis, in the opposite direction, to mix the ingredients. This is against rotating gear production. In most food blenders, the worm gear is connected to the motor shaft into two or more pinions. In turn, the pinion rotates the agitator. Since gears are one of the physical components rather than an appliance, serving them is different. Check and lubricate gears:

Step 1: Make sure the device is unplugged.

Step 2: Remove the upper housing to expose the gear. In most cases, it is the gear that is causing the problem that can be inspected for damage and then lubricated.

Step 3: Check and lubricate the worm gear and pinion, making sure excess lubricant does not touch the motor or electrical components.

Step 4: Remove any loose shavings or pieces before reorganizing the housing.

Replace the fuse: If your food blender’s motor isn’t working, the motor’s fuse may be blown. To test and replace the fuse:

Step 1: Remove the upper housing to get the motor.

Step 2: Find the fuse and disconnect the motor.

Step 3: Place a continuity tester or multimeter probe at the end of each year to check continuity. If not, the fuse is blown and must be replaced with one of the same current rating.

Step 4: Since the purpose of the fuse is to save the motor from damaging the motor, check the speed controller and other electrical components in the home appliance to determine the cause of the blown fuse. Otherwise, the new fuse will turn on the blow of the motor as soon as possible.

Replacing the motor: When properly designed, the motor of a small appliance should be one of the last components to fail. This is also one of the final components of the inspection. Unless you have the right tools, you should replace the motor instead of trying to fix it. Or you can go to professional maintenance personnel to repair the motor. To test and replace the motor:

Step 1: Test the continuity of the motor as you would any other electrical components.

Step 2: If the test fails, mark and remove the wires connected to it and disconnect the housing from the motor.
