How to Disassemble and Install the Lid of an Insulated Water Cup
An insulated water cup typically features two lids: an outer lid and an inner lid. Usually, only the inner lid needs to be disassembled for cleaning. There are two main types of inner lids: those that can be rotated off and those that cannot. It’s crucial to determine which type you have, as improper disassembly can lead to damage.
Method 1: Non-Rotatable Inner Lid
- Gather tweezers, pliers, and a soft cloth.
- Remove the thermos lid.
- Grip the thermos cap and wrap the pointed tweezers with a soft cloth.
- Activate the cap switch, angle the tweezers upwards, clamp the flagpole with pliers, and pull it out.
- Remove the disc behind the cover by wrapping it in a soft cloth and using pliers.
- Exercise caution while pulling the disc to prevent parts from flying out.
- To reinstall, reverse the steps, ensuring the spring is correctly positioned.
Method 2: Rotatable Inner Lid
- Remove the thermos cover.
- Rotate the lid counterclockwise to open; some may require clockwise rotation, so test as needed.
- Keep track of all parts during disassembly to avoid misplacement.
Cleaning the Thermos Cup Lid
- First, remove the lid and organize the small parts.
- Detach the foot pad from the lid, as it often harbors bacteria.
- Soak the small parts in warm water with detergent for about 10 minutes.
- Use a clean toothbrush to scrub each piece.
- Rinse each part thoroughly under running water.
- Rinse multiple times to ensure no detergent remains.
- Allow everything to dry before reassembling.
