Recorder head cleaning method Common faults and maintenance of recorder head

1. The cleaning method of the tape recorder head

1. Buy and remove the tape, which looks the same as the ordinary tape, and is very simple to use. It can be degaussed by turning it into the tape recorder for a few minutes. For the purpose, the price is slightly more expensive than ordinary tapes.

2. Use a clean cotton ball dipped in a little high-purity alcohol or carbon tetrachloride (commercially available special magnetic head cleaning agent can also be used) along the direction perpendicular to the direction of the tape, that is, along the gap of the magnetic head. In the direction, wipe the working end face of the magnetic head (recording and reproducing head and erasing head) repeatedly until it is clean. In addition, it is necessary to wipe the pinch roller, capstan, etc., to prevent the tape or dirt from contaminating the magnetic head again. This method works better and is more commonly used. This method is commonly used. After putting a few cassettes of tapes, it is cleaned up. It is often cleaned up very cleanly.

The main purpose of this method is to clean the tape powder on the magnetic head of the recorder, and it does not play a real degaussing effect on the magnetic head. If it is a good magnetic head, it is also recommended to use analytically pure anhydrous alcohol, and do not touch the relevant circuit wire puller when using it, and dry it with absorbent cotton as soon as possible after use.

3. There is another method, which is commonly used by professionals or departments. You can also try it if you have the conditions: remove the magnetic head (the connection is not removed), slightly away from other parts, Use the two stages of the horseshoe-shaped magnet to align the front (about one centimeter away from the magnetic head), make a wreath in a counterclockwise direction, make a circle or two, and then make a circle and leave it to a foot away. Usually once is fine. Then replace the head. Likewise, other electrical components susceptible to magnetization can be demagnetized in this way. For example, televisions, picture tubes of computer monitors, mechanical watches, etc.

Second, common faults and maintenance of the tape recorder head

The common faults of the magnetic head include coil disconnection and wear. The disconnection of the magnetic head coil is generally caused by mildew corrosion of the coil in the use environment or excessive current; wear is due to the long-term friction between the magnetic head of the tape recorder and the tape, and the working surface of the magnetic head is worn, causing the gap to increase, which reduces the sensitivity of recording and playback. , the frequency response characteristics deteriorate. When the head coil is broken or the working surface is seriously worn, it should be replaced in time.

1. There is a whistling phenomenon during playback, no sound, and no recording.

The main reason for this kind of failure is the unsoldering of the bump lead or the disconnection of the coil inside the magnetic head. Treatment method: first check whether the lead of the magnetic head is desoldered or broken (because the bumper often moves up and down, the lead is very easy to desolder or break). If no de-soldering or breakage is found, solder the leads, and then use a multimeter to measure the internal resistance to determine whether the head is open. If the head is open internally, the head needs to be replaced.

If the “record/play” switch is not in good contact, similar faults will occur, but as long as the switch is pressed a few times, the fault will be improved to different degrees, and attention should be paid to identification during maintenance.

2. When playing, the sound is small, the noise is large, and the treble part is lost.

This is mainly due to dirty heads. Because the magnetic head and the tape are in a state of sliding friction for a long time, the working surface of the magnetic head is very easy to be covered by magnetic powder and dust. Treatment method: Wipe the working surface of the magnetic head with absorbent cotton or leather dipped in cleaning solution or anhydrous alcohol. When wiping, you need to cut off the power supply, and press the “play” button, so that the magnetic head is in the protruding position, which is convenient for wiping.

3. The sound is questioned during playback, the high-pitched component is seriously lost, and it is also invalid after cleaning the magnetic head.

This phenomenon is caused by too much dirt or heavy wear on the head. When this happens, the working surface of the magnetic head should be checked first. If it is found that the working surface of the magnetic head has been ground out of the groove, it should be replaced.

When replacing the magnetic head, you need to pay attention to two problems: one is that the mounting frame of different magnetic heads is different; the other is that the internal impedance of the magnetic head has three types: high resistance, medium resistance and low resistance. Therefore, the original type of magnetic head should be preferred when purchasing magnetic heads. If you cannot find the original type of magnetic head and have to replace it with a similar type, be sure to make the mounting bracket and impedance match the original magnetic head. Otherwise, there will be inappropriate installation or poor recording and playback.
