Energy-saving lamps are turned on and off for 10 hours at a time
“Turn off the lights at will” is a good habit to save electricity. But for energy-saving lamps, frequent switching not only does not save electricity, but also damages the service life of energy-saving lamps.
The author learned from the energy-saving leading group of public institutions in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region that “turn off the lights and save electricity” is mainly for incandescent lamps. The power consumption of energy-saving lamps when they are turned on is 3 times that of normal use. Switching on and off the energy-saving lamps once is equivalent to the energy-saving lamps that last for 10 hours. Therefore, frequent switching of energy-saving lamps consumes more electricity. Moreover, the instantaneous high voltage of the energy-saving lamp when it is turned on is twice the normal voltage, and the light will be stable after 5 minutes of turning on the lamp. Therefore, frequent switching is very easy to damage the energy-saving lamp.
In this regard, experts suggest that it is not suitable to use energy-saving lamps in kitchens, corridors, bathrooms and other places where lights are frequently switched on and off. In addition, you should turn off the lights when you leave the room for more than 10 minutes, instead of turning them on and off as frequently as incandescent lamps.
According to reports, energy-saving lamps refer to red, green and blue fluorescent lamps, which are a kind of green lighting source. Compared with incandescent lamps, energy-saving lamps can save 70% to 80% of electricity.
