  1. Oral Temperature Measurement:

    • Ensure the thermometer is below 35 ℃ before use.
    • Place it under the tongue for at least 3-5 minutes (or 2 minutes if using a temperature tablet).
    • After reading the temperature data, wipe it with toilet paper, followed by disinfection using an alcohol pad (wipe from the end to the mercury end in a rotating manner).
    • After removing the body temperature tablet, wait for 10 seconds before discarding.
    • Note: Infants, those with difficulty breathing, unconsciousness, a history of spasms, or those unable to cooperate should avoid oral temperature measurement.
    • Avoid eating, drinking hot beverages, smoking, chewing gum, strenuous exercise, emotional agitation, and bathing for at least 30 minutes after the mentioned activities.
    • When holding the thermometer, grip the end, avoiding contact with the temperature sensing point.
  2. Axillary Temperature Measurement:

    • Ensure the thermometer is below 35 ℃ before use.
    • Place it at the top of the armpit, ensuring close contact between the mercury end and the skin to prevent dislocation or falling.
    • Measure for 5-10 minutes.
    • After reading the temperature data, wipe the thermometer with toilet paper.
    • Note: If there is sweat under the armpit, it needs to be dried before remeasuring. If the measurement time has not arrived, loosen the armpit, remeasure, and recalculate the time.
    • Avoid drinking hot beverages, strenuous exercise, emotional agitation, and bathing for at least 30 minutes before measurement.
  3. Experiment-related Thermometer Usage:

    • Carefully read the instructions provided with the thermometer.
    • Clearly understand the thermometer’s measurement range.
    • Not all thermometers can be used in all circumstances; pay attention to specific operational details for accurate readings.

Additionally, if the thermometer is filled with mercury, handle it with extreme care. In the event of a breakage, refrain from touching it with bare hands, as mercury is poisonous.

By paying attention to these details when using a thermometer, you can ensure its proper and effective usage.
